StoryOS started as the tool we wanted for our own agency work: a real relational workspace, open source, that AI agents could run.
Most work tools make you choose between power and ownership. The flexible, relational ones lock your data in a proprietary cloud; the open ones are glorified note apps. StoryOS refuses the trade: a serious relational engine — relations, rollups, formulas, automations, eight views — that you can run on your own box, read the source of, and drive entirely over an API.
And because it’s API-first, it’s the natural home for AI agents. Your databases become the agent’s memory; the MCP becomes its hands; automations become its nervous system. That’s the bet: the businesses that win next will be run by people and agents, working the same workspace.

Founder
Ievgen is a marketer and operator, not a tools tourist. He has spent years running content and marketing operations for agencies and SaaS companies — client work, editorial pipelines, campaign reporting — the exact workflows StoryOS models. That work lived across a CRM, a project tool, five spreadsheets and a notes app, and every Monday started with reassembling the truth by hand.
He was also early to run real production pipelines through AI agents — article pipelines where an agent researches, drafts and moves work through editorial gates while a human approves. StoryOS is those two experiences colliding: the connected workspace he always wanted, built so an agent can actually work in it. He runs his own agency operations and this product's entire backlog inside StoryOS, every day.
We run our business on it
This isn’t a demo thesis. Our own product backlog, this website’s issue tracker, our content pipeline and our competitor research all live in a StoryOS workspace — the bugs you find get triaged as StoryOS records, by agents, in StoryOS. When a screenshot on this site shows a full workspace, that’s because we had one to photograph.
We're independent and revenue-funded: hosting plans pay for development, the AGPL keeps the product honest, and there's no growth-at-all-costs investor timeline pushing us toward the lock-in moves we built this to escape.
