StoryOS is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3.0 (AGPL-3.0).

What that means for you

You are free to use, study, modify, and share StoryOS. You can run it for yourself or your organization at no cost, with no feature restrictions.

The key condition of the AGPL: if you modify StoryOS and make it available to others over a network, you must also make your modified source code available to those users under the same license.

Why AGPL

We chose the AGPL so StoryOS stays open. It keeps improvements flowing back to the community and prevents a closed-source fork from taking the project private.
